This course explores the psychological and emotional challenges faced by professionals in caregiving, social services, healthcare, law enforcement, and other high-stress fields. It provides an in-depth understanding of empathic strain, secondary trauma, burnout, and moral distress—four interconnected phenomena that impact individuals working in environments where they are regularly exposed to others’ suffering.
Participants will gain knowledge about the causes, signs, and consequences of these conditions, while learning strategies for prevention and self-care. The course will also delve into the ethical dilemmas that often arise in these fields, as well as methods for fostering resilience and maintaining emotional well-being.
