This course provides an overview of secondary trauma, exploring how individuals who work with trauma survivors can be affected by the emotional and psychological stress of others’ traumatic experiences. The course will help participants understand the concept of secondary trauma, its symptoms, and its impact on personal well-being and professional effectiveness.
Participants will gain an understanding of how secondary trauma develops, the differences between secondary trauma and burnout, and how to recognize its signs. Emphasis will be placed on the effects of trauma exposure on mental health, relationships, and work performance, as well as on strategies for prevention and intervention.
By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and practical tools to recognize and address secondary trauma, foster self-care practices, and support colleagues and clients and patients in high-stress, trauma-exposed environments.
